Inclusive Resilience: Pathways to building awareness and preparedness among at-risk populations in Canada
2022 – Partners for Action & Canadian Red Cross
Between 2020 to 2022, a literature review, focus groups, interviews and a survey were conducted to understand how women, seniors, newcomers to Canada, Indigenous peoples and people with low incomes learn about and prepare for floods, wildfires and earthquakes in their communities in order to improve communications materials about these emergencies. These communities were located in:
- Newfoundland
- Ottawa, ON
- Renfrew, ON
- Thompson, MB
- Richmond, BC
This research is intended to help the Canadian Red Cross, Partners for Action and others to develop inclusive communications materials that help at-risk Canadians reduce their exposure to these emergencies and take action to prepare.
