Forecasting and Responding to Storm Surge in BC (Webinar)

2015 – Fraser Basin Council

This webinar offers an overview of the B.C Storm Surge Forecasting System, which was conceived to provide stakeholders with adequate warning of extreme water level events through a combination of numerical model forecasts, online bulletins for affected areas and alerts issued through social media.  In addition, the system provides a pre-season synopsis of climatological conditions and an extreme tide calendar for sensitive areas for advanced planning purposes. The B.C Storm Surge Forecasting Program is working on engaging stakeholders to assess future requirements and gain feedback on how the system is currently used and how future incarnations would best benefit the community at large.

This webinar is part of the BC Regional Adaptation Collaborative (BC RAC) webinar series.
