Pacific Institute for Climate Solutions

The Pacific Institute for Climate Solutions (PICS) was created by the Government of British Columbia in 2008. The mission of PICS is “to partner with governments, the private sector, other researchers and civil society, in order to undertake research on, monitor, and assess the potential impacts of climate change and to assess, develop and promote viable mitigation and adaptation options to better inform climate change policies and actions.” The institute strives to understand, evaluate and assess climate change, explore solutions and communicate the topic to stakeholders. The institute is based at the University of Victoria, and works closely with the four research-intensive universities in BC (University of Victoria, University of BC, Simon Fraser University and the University of Northern BC).
