The B.C. Ministry of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness has developed the British Columbia Disaster and Climate Risk and Resilience Assessment (DCRRA) and the accompanying B.C. Hazard Insights Tool, now available on ClimateReadyBC. Together, these resources provide accessible, province-wide information and data to better understand how different hazard scenarios may affect people, infrastructure, the environment and communities.

The DCRRA can be used by First Nations and local governments as well as provincial ministries, infrastructure owners, health authorities and others, to support disaster and climate planning and decision-making. This includes identifying priority risks, understanding potential impacts, and informing resilience planning and actions.

We are grateful to everyone who has contributed to provincial engagements on disaster and climate risk since 2019. Your feedback and guidance directly shaped this work and led to the establishment of the First Nations Committee on Disaster and Climate Risk and the development of the products. We extend our deep gratitude to the Committee who have been instrumental in guiding the development of the Provincial DCRRA, and to the 200+ subject matter experts, Knowledge Holders, and partners who have contributed their time, knowledge, and lived experience.

Join the Ministry of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness for a webinar that will introduce communities to the DCRRA, walk through key findings, and demonstrate how to use the B.C. Hazard Insights Tool. The agenda will include 45min presentation and 15 min Q&A.
